I am Alonna Farrar, of A. Boyd Farrar Graphics and Illustration and have worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic artist since finishing Commercial Art school at Spokane Falls Community College in 1979, I also worked towards a Fine Art Degree at both U of Idaho and WSU.
I have worked at Palomar College as a graphic specialist/illustrator since 2001 for their in-house Print Services Department and have worked on a variety of projects from brochures to multi-page programs, schedules and catalogs.
From 1995 to 2001, I worked for North County Graphics as an assistant to John Alesi doing computer graphics and pastel/colored pencil medical illustrations. I also progressed to digital illustrations and graphics as we utilized desktop publishing. The majority of projects were for personal injury attorneys and would be used as exhibits in court. Other projects were logos, technical illustrations for other clients and web graphics.
I obtained some skills in medical and technical illustration working for the Washington State Univ. Biomedical Unit as a financial aid student and then as an hourly employee when I was studying fine arts there from 1979 to 1981.
Since 1999 I have taken classes at Palomar College where I gained the digital arts skills to transition from old school paste up and hand done illustration to fully advanced computer graphics with Adobe Creative Cloud software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, as well as, Corel Painter. I also have to be versed Microsoft Office to communicate with my clients since working in this college setting. I have also been working with WordPress for some of the college department websites as well as for other clients and myself.
